How to add Next best actions to an agent team step in GTM One
Learn how to add a step that recommends the next best actions for an account when an agent team runs.
Learn how to add a step that recommends the next best actions for an account when an agent team runs.
Overview
The Next Best Actions agent is one of the agents a ZoomInfo step can run. When the agent team runs, the step recommends actions for the company it is given, using engagement history, company signals and where the account sits in the sales cycle, and returns them as text. Later steps in the team can use that text (for example, an email step that shares it).
The step only reads data. It does not send an email or write to your CRM. What a later step does with the text depends on that step.
Before you start
- ZoomInfo steps turned on. This is available when your organization has the ZoomInfo steps turned on. If ZoomInfo is missing from the Add action list, contact your ZoomInfo account team. See How to add a ZoomInfo step to an agent team.
- Permission to edit the team. If every field in the step's panel is turned off, you can view the team but not change it. Ask your ZoomInfo admin for edit access.
- A company to look at. The step needs a company name, from a Company name filter on the step or from its description. See the tips below.
Add the Next Best Actions step
- In the left navigation panel, click Agent Teams, open the agent team you want to change, and click the Steps tab.
- Click Add action below the steps, then click ZoomInfo.
- Under ZoomInfo data, click Analyze Data with a ZoomInfo Agent.
- In Agent, select Next Best Actions.
- In Input source, select the earlier step whose output this step should use as context. The input source is required.
- In Instructions, edit the text to name the account and any focus. It starts as "Recommend the next best action for the selected account. Consider engagement history, company signals, and where the account sits in the sales cycle."
- Click Save changes.
The step card shows "Run ZoomInfo Next Best Action agent".
Run the team and find the recommendations
- Run the agent team as you normally do. See How to run an agent team.
- Open the run and select the Next Best Actions step.
- Read the step's output. It lists recommended actions with the people to contact and ends with a thread reference. To read what each part means, see How to read a Next best actions report in GTM One.
The step waits up to 10 minutes. A run uses AI credits as any agent team run does.
Tips
- Name the company. The step looks the company up by name. It uses the value of a Company name filter on the step, then the step's description, and if neither is set it uses all the text the step assembled. A full, exact company name avoids a report about a similarly named company.
- Keep instructions short. The instructions and the run's input are passed as context, and anything past 2,000 characters is cut off.
- The result is text. In an agent team the recommendations come back as text in the step's output, not as the formatted report you open from a profile.
If you see an error
- "Failed to generate next best action recommendations" The step could not get recommendations. The rest of the message says why. See Troubleshooting Next best actions in GTM One.
