Overview

An agent team can start in two ways. Someone can run it by hand, or it can start on its own from a trigger, such as a schedule or a CRM event. Activating an agent team turns its trigger on, so the team runs every time the conditions for the trigger are met. Deactivating it stops the team from running when its trigger event occurs. You need to activate it again to resume.

Only an agent team that has a trigger can be activated. A team without a trigger shows Run agent team instead, and runs only when someone starts it. A team with a trigger can still be run by hand with Run manual.

The header of an agent team that has a trigger shows its current state as Status: ON or Status: OFF.

Before you begin

  • Wait for the agent team's page and its steps to finish loading in the builder. GTM One checks whether the tools and integrations the team's steps use are connected, and you should activate the team only after that check finishes.
  • If you have edited the team and not saved, save or cancel your changes first so the team you activate is the version you expect.
  • Activating an agent team uses AI action credits each time it runs automatically. The activation dialog shows the estimated credits.
  • You need permission to change the agent team. An agent team shared with your organization by another organization can be run, but only the organization that owns it can activate or deactivate it.

Activate a triggered agent team

  1. In the left navigation panel, click Agent Teams, then click the agent team you want to turn on.
  2. In the top-right corner of the page, click Activate agent team.
  3. Review the dialog, which explains that the agent team will run every time the conditions for the trigger are met and shows the estimated AI action credits.
  4. Click the confirm button in the dialog to activate the agent team.
  5. Check that the header now shows Status: ON and that the trigger step at the top of the team's steps shows the trigger as active.

You can also activate an agent team while you edit it. In the editor, click Activate. If you have unsaved changes, they are saved first. The Activate button is unavailable until the agent team has at least one trigger and one action.

If activation is blocked

When you activate from the editor, GTM One checks the connections of the tools, MCP servers and CRM filters the agent team uses. The Activate button is unavailable while that check runs. If a connection is missing or a step is incomplete, the "Review before activating" dialog lists the problems:

  • Click Go to error next to a problem, or click Fix Errors (or Fix Connections when only connections need attention), to correct it.
  • Click Activate without fixing to continue anyway, when that option is offered.

Deactivate a triggered agent team

  1. In the left navigation panel, click Agent Teams, then click the agent team you want to turn off.
  2. In the top-right corner of the page, click Deactivate agent team.
  3. In the confirmation dialog, click Deactivate agent team.
  4. Check that the header now shows Status: OFF.

In the editor, you can click Deactivate instead, then confirm in the dialog.

Turning a team off does not delete it or its steps. You can open the team again later and activate it when you want its trigger to start runs again.

If you see an error

  • "You do not have permission to take this action". You do not have permission to change the agent team, so the activate and deactivate controls are unavailable. Ask someone with access to the team to change it, or, for a team shared by another organization, ask the organization that owns it.
