Update GTM Context

Write changes to the GTM context your AI uses about your organization. Synthesizes unstructured content into structured offerings, personas, segments, and competitors, or makes direct edits to existing records. Consumes AI action credits.

What it does

Modifies the GTM context your AI uses about your organization. The write companion to GTM Context. It operates in two modes:

  • Synthesis. Provide a query describing intent plus sourceMaterial (battlecard text, product brief, transcript, brain dump). The agent reads the source, distills the GTM concepts inside it, deduplicates against existing records, and writes structured updates across whatever object types the material covers.
  • Direct edit. Provide a query only. The agent operates on existing records: archive a competitor, rename a segment, restate an elevator pitch.

A single call can affect multiple object types. A competitive battlecard often contains competitor intelligence, offering differentiation, and persona pain points all at once. The agent routes each concept to the correct record.

What it can write to

ObjectCaptures
Company overviewName, elevator pitch, description, strategic priorities, custom fields
OfferingsProducts and services, value propositions, pain points, proof points, custom fields
Buyer personasRoles, objectives, pain points, priorities, custom fields
Ideal customer profilesSegments, firmographics, technographics, custom fields
CompetitorsProducts, strengths, weaknesses, win/loss reasons, custom fields

If the source material includes information that doesn't fit a standard field, the agent will create a custom field to preserve it. Examples: "integration timeline," "budget cycle," or "decision maker."

Credits

AI action credits, proportional to work done. Each call runs a context agent that analyzes the input, deduplicates against existing GTM context, and writes the resulting changes. Credit consumption scales with how much content is being analyzed and how many records are being touched.

Access

The authenticated user must be a ZoomInfo admin. Standard users can read their GTM context but cannot modify it.

Parameters

ParameterRequiredDescription
queryYesNatural language instruction framing the intent and scope of the update.
sourceMaterialNoRaw content to analyze. Limit ~2,000 words per call. For larger documents, break the work into multiple calls with scoped queries targeting different sections.

When the AI uses it

The AI invokes Update GTM Context when the user supplies new material to load into their GTM context, or when they issue a direct change like archiving a competitor. For complex inputs the orchestrator may chain: GTM Context to read current state, Update GTM Context to apply the change, then GTM Context again to verify.

For source material longer than ~2,000 words, the orchestrator chunks the input across several calls, each scoped to a different section. Tighter scope produces higher-quality synthesis than a single overloaded call.

All records created or updated through this tool are tagged with their MCP provenance, distinguishing agent-written GTM context from manual entries.
