Overview

Know who you're talking to before you reach out. Contact Research builds a briefing on one person by combining their professional background from ZoomInfo, your CRM's record of the relationship, and what your team has actually discussed with them. Useful whether you're personalizing a first email or working out where a buying committee member stands.

What You'll Get

A written briefing on a single contact. It may include:

  • Title, seniority, and department
  • Career history and professional background
  • Relationship history and past interactions
  • Open opportunities linked to this person
  • Recurring themes and commitments from calls and emails

Best For

  • Outreach personalization
  • Meeting preparation
  • Understanding a buying committee member
  • Renewal and expansion planning

To find people matching a persona rather than research one you have named, use Search Contacts. For a pointed question about specific calls or emails with this person, use Conversation Intelligence.

  • Professional background

Technical Details

Credits

Contact Research uses AI action credits, charged in proportion to the work done. Most requests consume 5 to 15 credits, depending on how complex the question is. Each call covers one contact. See Credits & Billing.

Requirements

CRM and conversation history appear only if your organization has connected those sources to ZoomInfo at the tenant level. ZoomInfo contact data is always included. Ask your ZoomInfo admin which first-party sources are connected.

Automatic Tool Selection

The AI reaches for Contact Research when you ask about a specific named individual. Prompts along the lines of "tell me about this person before I reach out" land here.

Architecture

The tool runs as a context agent. A sub-agent gathers from each connected source, selects what matters for your question, and returns a short briefing rather than raw records from three systems.

Example Prompts

"Research Jane Smith, VP of Sales at Acme Corp, before I reach out."

"What do I know about John Doe at HubSpot? Has anyone on my team spoken with him?"

"Give me a briefing on the CFO at our top renewal account."

"Who is this person and what have we already promised them?"
