Overview

Chat finds companies by what they are and what they do, and people by their role and their employer. It turns your wording into filters, runs the search against ZoomInfo data and shows you one page of results together with the true number of matches. The page is a sample: the full set lives in an Audience, which you can save from the same conversation. See How to save a chat list as an Audience in GTM One.

Chat can filter companies by:

  • Location (city, state or country), industry, employee count and annual revenue.
  • Funding (a date, or the stage of the most recent round only, such as Series B) and whether the company is publicly traded.
  • Technology the company uses, either a kind of software or a named product.
  • Business events in the last year, buyer intent topics a company is researching, and companies that are hiring, optionally for a role.
  • Visits to your own website since a date, optionally to pages with a given word in their address.
  • Your CRM: accounts you own, accounts your team owns, any CRM account, or net-new companies that are not in your CRM.

Chat finds people by job title, seniority, department and location, and by attributes of their employer such as industry, size, technology and funding.

Before you start

  • Chat is available from Home and from the Ask AI buttons on profiles and other pages. You do not need a special role to use it. What you see depends on your ZoomInfo access. See Overview of permissions in GTM One.
  • Searches that use your CRM (for example "my accounts" or "companies not in my CRM") need a connected CRM. The Data sources control in the chat box lists "Your CRM" only when one is connected. See How to Connect Your CRM to GTM One.
  • Searches on website visits use the website visit data your organization has collected. If your organization does not collect it, those searches return nothing.
  • Each question can use AI action credits when your organization is charged for them. See How to see how many credits a Chat reply used in GTM One.

Ask for a list of companies or people

  1. In the left navigation panel, click Home, or open a conversation from Chats.
  2. In the chat box, describe the group in plain words, for example "Series B fintech companies in California with 200 to 1,000 employees" or "Product managers at Series B fintech companies in California".
  3. Press Enter. Chat shows a progress section while it searches, then a table with the first records.
  4. Read the sentence at the top of the answer. It states how many records matched in total and how the results are ordered. Read the closing lines too: chat lists the assumptions it made, such as which of your words became which filter, and offers other ways to read the question.
  5. Send a follow-up to narrow or widen the group, for example "only the ones with more than 500 employees" or "include Series A".
  6. When the list is right, accept the card under the answer, or ask chat to save it as an Audience.

Tips

  • Use your own words for industries, locations, titles and stages. Chat matches them to ZoomInfo's values. If a phrase matches nothing, chat tells you or offers the closest values instead of guessing.
  • A job title phrase must be at least 3 characters. For a named person, ask about the person instead: see How to research a company or person with chat in GTM One.
  • Searches for hiring companies or website visitors must be narrowed by at least one other filter, such as a location, industry or size. Chat adds one or asks you for one.
  • A funding stage matches the company's most recent round only. A company that raised a Series B and then a Series C does not match "Series B".
  • Say "all of them" only when you need more than one page. Chat then returns up to 500 rows in the answer. A single page is up to 100 records, and 20 by default. Beyond that, save the list as an Audience.
  • Results are ordered largest first, not strongest signal first. For buyer intent, chat reads the strength of each company's signal from the data rather than from the order.
  • Chat does not act on a list in bulk: it cannot email every contact or update CRM records from a conversation. Save the list as an Audience and work it there.

If a search returns nothing

An empty result means nothing matched the filters chat sent. Chat does not guess why. Ask chat which filters it used, then loosen one (a wider location, a lower size) and try again. For more, see Troubleshooting chat answers about companies, contacts and pipeline in GTM One.
