Overview
Chat delivers an answer in one of three ways:
- In the conversation. Formatted text with tables, links and headings. This is the default. A long or structured answer is still a chat answer.
- A document. A designed layout with an executive summary, metric tiles, cards and timelines, built for scanning. You keep it, reopen it and send it on. It opens beside the conversation.
- A slide deck. Slides for presenting to other people.
Chat builds a document or deck only when you ask. Words such as "dashboard", "overview", "summarize" or "break it down" describe what you want to know, not what you want built, so chat answers those in the conversation.
Before you start
- Documents hold facts, not sortable records. There is no data table in a document, so records you want to sort, filter or export belong in an Audience. See How to save a chat list as an Audience in GTM One.
- A document shows only what the data supports. A section with no data is left out rather than filled in, and an account with logged meetings is never described as new.
- Each question can use AI action credits when your organization is charged for them. See How to see how many credits a Chat reply used in GTM One.
Ask for a document
- Open chat from Home or Chats. To build around a record, open chat from a company, contact or Audience page with Ask AI.
- Ask for the document by name: "a document", "a brief", "a plan", "a report", "a one-pager", "a write-up" or "a page". A named report type works too, such as "a MEDDIC report", "a competitive brief" or "an account plan".
- Press Enter. Chat gathers the data first, then builds the document. It adds a sentence or two in the conversation to introduce it.
- To change it, say what to change. Chat rewrites the whole document. Each new document replaces the previous one in the conversation.
You can also accept a suggestion. After a substantial answer, such as a briefing on one company, an account plan or an analysis you will come back to, chat may show a card offering to turn the answer into a document. Click Create and chat builds it.
Ask for a slide deck
- Say you want to present, for example "turn this into a deck for my QBR".
- If chat asks you to pick a template, choose one. See How to choose a slideshow template in Chat in GTM One.
- When the deck is ready, use Download options to save it.
Work with what chat built

Tips
- Ask for one thing at a time. Chat builds one deliverable per message. If you ask for two (for example a report and an email to the top contacts), it asks which comes first.
- Chat does not send email. Outreach is written as text you copy: see How to ask chat to draft an outreach message in GTM One.
- Chat calls these documents. Ask for "the document", not a canvas or a page layout.
- If a document does not appear or stays blank, see Troubleshooting documents Chat builds in GTM One.
