Learn how to ask chat for a deep look at one company, CRM account, opportunity or person, and how a profile page you have open sets the subject for you.
Overview
Chat can research a single subject and answer with what ZoomInfo and your connected systems hold about it. For a company, account or opportunity it can draw on:
- Firmographics, financials, reviews, open jobs, debt and lending filings, and news.
- An AI summary of the company, and its fit score where one exists.
- Your CRM status, open opportunities, recent meetings, contacts and facts recorded on the account.
- Deal qualification details and stakeholders for an opportunity, and what the account is researching (buyer intent topics).
- Competitive intelligence.
For a person it shows the profile and, for a contact in your CRM, recent engagements and account context.
Chat decides how deep to go from your question. A single fact needs one lookup. A message you plan to send to someone, or a briefing before a meeting, makes chat check who they are, what has changed recently, your relationship with them (customer, live deal, earlier conversations, or none) and which of your offerings fits.
Before you start
- Facts from your CRM (accounts, opportunities, contacts, recorded meetings) appear only when a CRM is connected. The Data sources control in the chat box lists "Your CRM" only then. See How to Connect Your CRM to GTM One.
- Meetings and emails are recorded only when at least one participant is from outside your company. Internal-only activity is not captured, so an all-internal week looks empty.
- Each question can use AI action credits when your organization is charged for them. See How to see how many credits a Chat reply used in GTM One.
Research a subject by name
- Open chat from Home or from Chats.
- Ask about the subject and name it, for example "Tell me about Frederick Primary Care" or "Tell me about Satya Nadella". You can also type @ and pick a company or contact from the list.
- Press Enter. Chat looks the subject up and answers with a short summary and the facts that matter for your question. Each name, figure and date links to the record it came from.
- Ask a follow-up for more depth, for example "What changed there in the last quarter?" or "Who are the contacts on the open deal?".
You can also give an identifier instead of a name: a ZoomInfo company or contact ID, a Salesforce account (001...), opportunity (006...) or contact (003...) ID, an email address, or a company website address.
Research the page you have open
- Open a company, contact, account or opportunity profile.
- Click Ask AI to open chat beside the page.
- Ask your question without naming the subject, for example "What should I know before I call them?". Chat treats the record on the page as the subject unless you say otherwise.
When a profile opens chat, chat loads background on that record before it answers: for a company, its news, AI overview, CRM status, open opportunities, recent meetings and contacts; for an opportunity, its deal fields, stakeholders, deal qualification details and recent meeting recaps; for a contact, the ZoomInfo profile. Engagement history for a contact is fetched only if you ask for it.
Tips
- If chat found more than one possible match, it asks you to choose before it goes on. Answer the question card. See How to answer the questions Chat asks you in GTM One.
- A company or colleague named only to narrow a list is a filter, not a subject. To research it, say so.
- Ask for a document, brief or deck only when you want one. See How to ask chat for a document, brief or slide deck in GTM One.
- To research the open web (a page you share, or recent public news), see How to ask GTM One chat to search the web.
- Chat shows what the data holds. It does not invent prior meetings: an account with no logged meetings is described as having none that chat could find.
