Overview
Auto top-up adds credits to your balance when it drops below a set level, so agent runs and exports are not interrupted. You set it up on the Billing page in Settings, where each credit balance shows whether auto top-up is on.
Auto top-up on the Billing page is available when your organization has it turned on. When it is off, the Billing page shows your credit balances without any auto top-up status.
Before you start:
- The Billing page appears in Settings only for users who have access to buying credits through Stripe Billing. If you do not see it, contact your ZoomInfo admin.
- If your organization buys credits through the ZoomInfo Web Store instead, the Billing row in Settings opens the store in a new tab, and a direct visit to the Billing page sends you there. Auto top-up is not part of the Web Store, so the steps below do not apply to you. The same rule decides where Buy credits links in GTM One take you, for example from an agent team that is short on credits.
- Only admins can turn auto top-up on or change it. Other users see the status under each balance but no link to change it.
- Only one auto top-up setup runs for your organization at a time. If a teammate already set it up, each balance reads Auto top-up on, followed by the teammate's email (e.g., Managed by name@example.com), and you cannot change it from your account.
Set Up Auto Top-Up
- In the lower-left corner of the left navigation panel, click your name or profile initial.
- Click Settings.
- In the Settings navigation, under Set Up, click Billing.
- In the Credits remaining card, under AI credits or Data credits, click Turn on.
- In the Set up auto top-up dialog, use the switch next to AI credits and Data credits to choose which balances refill automatically.
- For each credit type that is switched on, select the amount to add from the dropdown below "When below (number) credits, add".
- Select a Monthly limit.
- Review the card shown next to Charged to at the bottom of the dialog.
- Click Turn on auto top-up.
If a balance is already below its threshold, the dialog shows a notice and the button reads Turn on and add (amount) now, because that top-up runs as soon as you turn auto top-up on. A confirmation message names the credit types that are now on.
Choose or Add a Card
- Next to Charged to, click Change.
- Select a saved card. Expired cards are listed but cannot be selected.
- Click Use this card.
If no card is on file, the dialog shows No card on file and the main button reads Add a card to continue. Click it (or Add card) to open a secure page where you add a card. When you return, the dialog reopens with your settings. To add another card from the card list, click Add a new card.
Change or Turn Off Auto Top-Up
- Open the Billing page in Settings.
- Under the credit balance that shows Auto top-up on, click Edit.
- In the Manage auto top-up dialog, change the switches, amounts, monthly limit, or card.
- Click Save changes.
To turn auto top-up off, switch off every credit type in the Manage auto top-up dialog, then click Turn off auto top-up.
Turn On Auto Top-Up with a Credit Purchase
When you buy credits on the Billing page, an admin who has never set up auto top-up, while no auto top-up is running for the organization, is offered it before payment.
- On the Billing page, choose the credits you want to buy and click Purchase credits.
- In the Set up auto top-up dialog, use the switch next to AI credits and Data credits to choose which balances refill automatically.
- For each credit type that is switched on, select the amount to add from the dropdown below "When below (number) credits, add".
- Select a Monthly limit.
- Click Turn on and continue to payment.
You then continue to payment, and auto top-up is charged to the card you pay with. To buy credits without auto top-up, click Skip for now instead. Closing the dialog also continues to payment without auto top-up.
If a balance would still be below its threshold after this purchase, the dialog says so and names the amount that turning on adds right away. The button stays unavailable until at least one credit type is switched on, and when the immediate top-up is more than the monthly limit allows.
Monthly Limit and Charges
- The monthly limit covers AI and Data credits together. Once it is reached, auto top-up pauses until next month. You can still buy credits any time.
- The monthly limit must be at least your largest top-up amount. Lower limits are listed but cannot be selected.
- If turning on auto top-up would add more right away than your monthly limit allows, the dialog shows a warning and you cannot turn it on. Raise the limit or switch a credit type off.
- Auto top-up charges only when a balance runs low, plus tax. Charges are governed by the License Terms and Conditions linked in the dialog.
- The threshold, the amounts you can add, and the monthly limit options are shown in the dialog. For pricing questions, contact your ZoomInfo account team.
What the Status Under Each Balance Means
- Auto top-up off: Auto top-up is not running for this credit type. Admins see a Turn on link.
- Auto top-up on: Auto top-up is running, followed by the amount it adds and the balance that triggers it. Admins see an Edit link.
- Paused · no card on file: Auto top-up cannot charge because no card is on file. Admins can click Add card to add one, and auto top-up resumes.
- Running low: The balance is below its auto top-up threshold.
If you see an error
- "Turn on at least one credit type, or skip for now." You opened the dialog from a credit purchase and no credit type is switched on. Switch one on, or click Skip for now.
- "We couldn't check your balances, so we can't tell what turning on charges now." The dialog could not read your current balances. Click Try again.
- "We couldn't save auto top-up. Try again." The settings were not saved. Click the button again.
- "Someone else on your team already turned on auto top-up." A teammate set it up first. Close the dialog and ask them to change it.
- "There's no card to charge. Auto top-up can't add credits until you add one." Add a card with Add card, then save again.
- "Auto top-up can't add credits until you use a card that works." The card was declined. Click Change card and choose another one.
- "Choose a different card, or change your settings, to save again." Saving again would use the same declined card. Choose another card or change a setting first.
- "Auto top-up is on, but this month's limit is already used. Top-ups start again next month, or raise the limit to add credits sooner." The monthly limit is already reached. Raise the monthly limit, or wait until next month.
- "We're still confirming your auto top-up. Check back in a moment." The save took longer than expected. Reopen the Billing page in a moment to see whether it is on.
- "We couldn't open Stripe to add a card. Try again." The secure card page did not open. Click Add card again.
- "Your new card is taking a while to appear. Check again in a minute." The card you added is not listed yet. Wait a minute, then reopen the dialog.
