Troubleshooting Audience Row and Column Changes in GTM One
Learn how to fix the messages GTM One gives when records or cell values in an audience cannot be added, changed or deleted, or when a column cannot be saved.
Learn how to fix the messages GTM One gives when records or cell values in an audience cannot be added, changed or deleted, or when a column cannot be saved.
Overview
Changes to an audience are checked before they are saved. A change that breaks a rule is refused, and the audience stays as it was. In some places GTM One shows the message below. In others it shows a general message such as "Something went wrong". The cause and the fix are the same either way.
Find the message or symptom that matches what you see, and follow the steps under it.
An addition is refused because the audience is full
An audience holds a maximum number of rows, set by your organization's plan. The count includes only new rows. Changing rows that are already in the audience never counts against it.
- Open the audience and check the records count.
- Delete or hide rows you no longer need. Hidden rows are still in the audience, so delete rows if you need to free space (see How to add, hide and delete rows in an audience in GTM One).
- Add the records again, or split them across more than one audience.
- If your organization needs a higher maximum, ask your ZoomInfo admin or account team.
A record is already in the audience, or was included twice
A ZoomInfo record can appear in an audience only once.
- Search the audience for the record, using the search box above the table.
- If it is already there, leave it. If you meant to change it, edit its row instead of adding it again.
- When you add several records at once, remove repeats from your selection and add again.
A cell value is refused
Each cell value must suit its column, and only columns you fill in yourself can be edited.
- Check the column type in the column header. A number column takes a number, a checkbox column takes true or false, and a list column takes a list of values.
- For a column that offers a fixed set of options, pick one of the options exactly as it is written.
- For a column filled by ZoomInfo data or AI, do not type in it. Run the column again instead (see How to add columns to an audience and run enrichment in GTM One).
- Clearing a cell is always allowed. Leave it blank to remove its value.
An AI column is refused because it has too many inputs
An AI column can use up to 20 inputs. For a Data Analysis column the message counts data sources. For AI Emailer, Conversation Intelligence and Web Research columns it counts input columns. When an AI column uses all columns of the audience as inputs, the number of columns in the audience is the number that counts.
- Open the AI column's settings and count its inputs.
- Remove inputs until 20 or fewer are left.
- Save the column again. See How to add columns to an audience and run enrichment in GTM One.
A column cannot be created because its type is not supported
When you create a column through the API, only custom columns and ZoomInfo match columns can be created that way. A column of any other type is built by GTM One, from its own flow in the app.
- Check the column type in your request.
- For a custom column or a match column, use that type and send the request again.
- For any other kind of column, add it in the app. See How to add columns to an audience and run enrichment in GTM One.
A column cannot be deleted
Some columns are protected, and GTM One shows "Failed to delete column:" followed by a reason that names the column and says what to do instead. Hiding a column is always allowed.
- Read the reason. It names the column in quotation marks.
- If the column comes from the parent audience, delete it in the parent audience, or hide it in this one.
- If the column is a match column, change its match settings, or hide it.
- If the column links each row to the audience it came from, or identifies each row, hide it instead.
- If the reason says another column reads from it, delete that column first (see How to add columns to an audience and run enrichment in GTM One).
A formula column needs a description
A formula column is written from a description you give it. GTM One refuses an empty description.
- Open the formula column's settings.
- Describe what the column should work out, using the audience's own columns.
- Generate the formula again.
Only a list column can be saved as a sheet
Saving a ZoomInfo Search column as a new sheet needs a column that returns a list of records. A column that returns a count, a yes or no answer, or several fields has no records to turn into a sheet.
- Open the audience and find the column.
- If the column returns a list, run it first, then save it as a sheet.
- If it returns a count or a yes or no answer, keep it as a column in this audience.
A CSV file has more columns than your plan allows
When you upload a CSV file, GTM One checks its column count against your organization's column limit before it maps the columns. A file with more columns than the limit is refused, because it could never become an audience.
- Open the file and remove the columns you do not need.
- Upload the file again.
- If you need every column, ask your ZoomInfo admin or account team about a higher column limit.
Rows cannot be added or deleted in a seller's copy
An audience that was built for a seller by routing is a copy. The person who routed the audience controls its rows.
- Open the original audience, not the seller's copy.
- Add or delete the rows there.
- Click Seller audiences out of sync in the header and then Sync now to send the change to the copies (see How to sync a routed audience to sellers' copies in GTM One).
A seller can hide rows in their own copy, and can add their own columns.
An action needs records and the audience has none
Some actions, such as searching an audience for specific records, need at least one record in the audience. Add records first, then try again.
Credits run out while adding records
Adding records with ZoomInfo data uses Data Credits, and AI columns use AI Credits. When the balance is not enough, the change is refused.
- Ask your ZoomInfo admin to check the credit balance in the Admin Portal.
- After credits are added, run the change again. See Overview of Credits in GTM One (AI + Data, Value-Based Charging).
Adding rows in the grid takes a few seconds
After you add or edit rows in the audience grid, GTM One can take up to about 10 seconds to confirm the change, so that the rows you just saved appear when the grid reloads. The rows are saved. Wait for the grid to refresh before you repeat the change.
If you see an error
- "Row limit exceeded: max allowed is" followed by a number and "rows per workbook". The addition would take the audience past your plan's row maximum. Delete rows or add fewer records.
- "ZI profile ID" followed by an id and "already exists in this audience". The record is already a row. Edit the existing row.
- "Duplicate ZI profile ID" followed by an id and "found in request payload". The same record was included twice. Include it once.
- "ZI profile ID must be a valid numerical value". A record identifier was not a number. Add the record again from search instead of typing an identifier.
- "Cannot create rows in an activated audience." The audience is a seller's copy. Add the rows in the original audience.
- "Cannot delete rows in an activated audience." The audience is a seller's copy. Delete the rows in the original audience.
- "Audience has zero records." The action needs at least one record. Add records first.
- "Column" followed by an id and "is not editable". The column is filled by ZoomInfo data, AI or a formula. Run the column again instead of typing.
- "Invalid value for column ID" followed by an id. The value does not suit the column type. Enter a value of the type the column expects.
- "Invalid value" followed by the value and "for column ID". The column only accepts its listed options. Pick one of the options exactly as written.
- "Column not found for the given Id" followed by an id. The column was removed. Refresh the audience.
- "Row not found for the given Id" followed by an id, or "Row not found for the given Ids" followed by ids. The row was deleted or is no longer in the audience. Refresh the audience and select the row again.
- "Audience not found for the given Id" followed by an id. The audience was deleted or you cannot open it. Check the Audiences page for it, then see Troubleshooting Audiences in GTM One.
- "Data Credits are exhausted" or "AI Credits are exhausted". The balance is not enough for the change. Ask your admin to add credits.
- "AI column" followed by the column name, "you selected" and a number of data sources or input columns, "Maximum allowed is 20. Remove some and try again." The AI column has more than 20 inputs. Remove inputs until 20 or fewer remain, then save the column again.
- "Failed to delete column:" followed by the column's name in quotation marks and "comes from the parent audience, so it can't be deleted here. Delete it in the parent audience, or hide it." Delete the column in the parent audience, or hide it.
- "Failed to delete column:" followed by the column's name and "is a match column and can't be deleted. You can edit its match settings or hide it." Change the match settings, or hide the column.
- "Failed to delete column:" followed by the column's name and "links each row to the audience it came from, so it can't be deleted. You can hide it instead." or "identifies each row in this audience, so it can't be deleted. You can hide it instead." Hide the column.
- "Failed to delete column:" followed by the column's name and "is required by this audience and can't be deleted. You can hide it instead." Hide the column. When a column has no name, the message begins "This column".
- "Formula prompt must not be empty". The formula column has no description. Describe the formula, then generate it again.
- "Only a LIST ZoomInfo Search column can be saved as a sheet". The column returns a count, a yes or no answer or several fields. Save a list column instead.
- "Values are not available for object columns". You asked for the values of a column that holds a has-a-value flag, such as a list of records. Filter that column by whether it is empty or not.
- "Unsupported columnType:" followed by a type, "Only CUSTOM and ZOOMINFO_MATCH columns can be created through this API." The request named a column type that cannot be created this way. Use one of the two supported types, or add the column in the app.
