Learn how to browse ZoomInfo datasets, preview them, and start an audience from one.
Learn how to browse ZoomInfo datasets, preview them, and start an audience from one.
Overview
When you create an audience, the Create Audience dialog can show a Zoominfo Context Graph card. The card lets you search all ZoomInfo objects (datasets) by name or category, see how they connect, and preview their records before you choose one to start from. An audience gets one row per record of the object you pick, and everything else joins to it.
When the Zoominfo Context Graph card is shown, it takes the place of the ZoomInfo data group, the search box, and the See all datasets option in the dialog. The Connect your data group stays and offers these options:
- Upload a file: Import companies or contacts from a CSV.
- Data warehouse: Query a table from Snowflake.
- Direct CRM Integration: Add Salesforce accounts and contacts.
This is available when your organization has it turned on. If you do not see the card, ask your ZoomInfo admin.
Open the Context Graph
- In the left navigation panel, click Audiences.
- Click New Audience in the top-right corner of the page.
- In the Zoominfo Context Graph card, click Browse the graph.
The New Audience page opens. The panel on the left, titled Choose an object to start with, lists the available datasets grouped by category (e.g., ZI Companies, ZI Contacts, and ZI Intent, or GTM Accounts and GTM Opportunities).
Find and Preview a Dataset
- On the New Audience page, type a name or category in the Search datasets box at the top of the left panel.
- Click the dataset you want to look at.
- To see more records, click Load more... at the bottom of the preview.
The preview on the right shows the dataset's records, with a count such as "Showing 25 of 1,000 records." If a dataset has nothing to show, the preview reads "This dataset has no records to preview." or "A preview is not available for this dataset yet."
Start an Audience from a Dataset
- On the New Audience page, click the dataset you want. The button at the bottom of the left panel changes to name it (e.g., Start with ZI Companies).
- Click the Start with button.
- On the page that opens, click Untitled audience at the top and type a name for the audience.
- Add at least one filter. The page reads "Add a filter to see records" until you do. The records that match appear as you add filters.
- Click Create Audience in the top-right corner of the page.
Create Audience stays turned off until the search has at least one filter, has finished loading, and matches at least one record. It also stays off while the search matches more than 200,000 records; narrow the filters first. To pick a different dataset, click Back to datasets. To leave without creating anything, click Cancel.
The Start with button is turned off for a dataset that has no filters yet, and the panel says so. It is also turned off if you opened the New Audience page from a link instead of from the Create Audience dialog. In that case, return to the Create Audience dialog and start again from Browse the graph.
Leave the Context Graph
- Click the back arrow next to the New Audience title to return to the Create Audience dialog, or click Cancel at the bottom of the left panel to return to the Audiences page.
If you see an error
- "Could not load datasets" together with "Something went wrong while loading the datasets." The list of datasets did not load. Click the retry option in the left panel.
- "No datasets match your search." Clear the search box or try a different name or category.
- "Could not load the preview" together with "Something went wrong while loading records from this dataset." The records for the selected dataset did not load. Click the retry option in the preview.
- "Could not load more records". The next batch of records did not load. Click Load more... again.
- "Filters for" followed by a dataset name and "are not available yet." That dataset cannot start an audience yet. Choose another dataset.
- "Open this page from Create Audience to start with a dataset." You opened the page from a link. Open the Create Audience dialog and click Browse the graph.
- "There are more than 200,000 records, please refine your filters" The search matches too many records. Add or tighten filters until Create Audience turns on.
- "Could not load this dataset's default columns, so the Audience cannot be created yet." The columns for the new audience did not load. Click Try again, and contact ZoomInfo support if it keeps happening.
