Learn how to find, rename, move, star, copy and delete audiences and the folders that group them.

Overview

The Audiences page lists every audience you can reach, with folders to group them. Each audience row has an actions menu, and folders have their own.

Before you begin

  • Only an audience's owner can rename, move or delete it. On an audience shared with you, these actions are turned off and read "Only the audience owner can do this". Only a folder's owner can update or delete the folder.
  • Copying needs access to the audience you copy from.
  • An audience that was built for a seller by routing is a copy. It stays in its routing folder and cannot be moved.

Find audiences

  1. In the left navigation panel, click Audiences.
  2. Type in Search audiences to match part of a name.
  3. Click a quick filter: Recently viewed, Starred, Created by me, Shared with me or Folders. Only one is active at a time.
  4. Click a column heading to sort. You can sort by name, records, AI credits, created date or modified date. The list is sorted by most recently modified by default.

Rename or move an audience

  1. In the audience's row, open the actions menu.
  2. Click Rename Audience to change the name, or Move to folder to place it in a folder.
  3. To take an audience out of its folder, move it out of the folder. It then sits with the unsorted audiences.

To star an audience, click the star in its row. Starred audiences show under the Starred filter.

A seller's copy cannot be moved, reordered inside its folder or added to another folder. To organize audiences differently, move the original audience instead. See Troubleshooting Audience Access, Folders and Deletion in GTM One.

Copy an audience

  1. In the audience's row, open the actions menu and click Copy Audience.
  2. Choose which audiences to copy. The dialog reads "Choose which audiences to copy. A new audience is created with the selected audiences."
  3. Click Copy. A message reads "Audience copied" when it is done.

The copy is a new audience with its own id, independent of the original. A copy of an audience that sits in a folder goes into the same folder.

Delete an audience

  1. In the audience's row, open the actions menu and click Delete Audience.
  2. Confirm the deletion. The dialog reads "This action cannot be undone."

Deleting an audience is permanent. Only the audience's owner can delete it.

Work with folders

  1. Click New folder to create a folder and give it a name.
  2. Click Add Audiences to Folder in a folder's menu to choose audiences to put in it.
  3. Rename a folder from its menu.
  4. Delete a folder from its menu. The folder is deleted and its audiences move to Unsorted. This cannot be undone.

If you see an error

  • "Could not add audiences to the folder". The audiences were not moved. Try again, and check that you can edit each one. A seller's copy cannot be added to another folder.
  • "Audience" followed by an id and "is managed by an audience activation and can not be moved out of its folder". The audience is a seller's copy. Leave it in its folder and move the original audience instead.
  • "Folder not found for the given Id" followed by the folder's id. The folder was deleted or you cannot reach it. Refresh the Audiences page.
  • "Audience copied, but the new audience id was not returned — refresh to see it." The copy exists. Refresh the Audiences page to find it.
