Learn what Apps are in GTM One and how they turn an audience into a custom tool

Overview

Apps (also called MicroApps) are custom applications you build in GTM One by describing what you want in a conversation. You tell the app builder what the app should do, review what it creates, and keep refining it through chat until it fits your workflow. You do not need to write code.

Every app is built on top of an audience. The audience acts as the app's data, so the records and columns in that audience are what the app displays and works with. If you have not built an audience yet, start there (see How to Build an Audience in GTM One).

What You Can Build

Apps are useful for data visualization and workflow tooling on top of an audience. Common examples include:

  • A fit-scoring prioritization view for sellers, with filtering by owner and by fit tier, a custom positioning narrative for each account, and recommended contacts
  • A segment or heat map view of the same audience data, cut by industry or employee range

How Apps Are Built

When you create an app, you first choose the audience it runs on. The dialog asks What should this app run on?, and once you pick an audience, the app builder opens so you can describe the app in chat. You can keep iterating with the builder until the app looks and works the way you want.

Sharing and Distributing Apps

Once an app is published, you can make it easy for others to find:

  • Share an app you own with other users in your organization. You can share an app when you own the audience it runs on, or when that audience is shared with your whole organization. If neither holds, Share may be unavailable and read "Sharing is unavailable because you do not own the underlying Audience and it isn't shared with your organization." See How to share an app or widget for the full rule.
  • Add to sidebar pins a published app to your navigation so you can open it in one click.
  • Apps that are shared with you appear in the Apps panel on your Home page and in the Shared with me tab of the Apps page.

Apps are shared, not assigned. The people you share an app with find it on their Home page and in the Shared with me tab.

Apps stay inside your organization's GTM One tenant. They cannot be published to the internet.

Duplicating an App

When your organization has it turned on, Duplicate appears in an app's menu. A duplicate is a private draft that you own, and sharing does not carry over from the original. The dialog asks what your copy should run on: the original audience, one of your own audiences, or (when also turned on) your own copy of the original audience. For the steps, see Duplicate an app.

Open Apps

  1. In the left navigation panel, click Apps.
  2. Click a tab at the top of the page to filter the list: All, My apps, or Shared with me. When widgets are turned on for your organization, a Widgets tab lists your widgets.
  3. Click an app card to open the app.

To start a new app, click Create in the top-right corner of the Apps page. For details on searching, sorting, and managing the apps on this page, see How to Create and Manage an App (MicroApp) in GTM One.

Limitations

Keep these current limitations in mind when planning an app:

  • You cannot take actions (e.g., updating records or triggering workflows) from inside an app. Apps are for viewing and working with audience data.
  • Apps cannot be saved as templates. Duplicating an app is available only when your organization has it turned on.
  • Only the owner of an app can edit it. Users the app is shared with can open and use it, but cannot change it.

If you need an app capability that is not listed here, contact your ZoomInfo admin or account team.
