Overview

Each app card on the Apps page shows a thumbnail and a description. GTM One takes a thumbnail from a live screenshot of your app when you publish it, and you can replace it at any time. You can change the thumbnail and description of an app you own once the app has been generated in the builder.

The thumbnail also appears in the emails GTM One sends when an app is published or shared with someone.

Change the thumbnail

  1. In the left navigation panel, click Apps.
  2. Open your app in the builder: click a draft app's card, or for a published app open the card's menu and click Edit.
  3. Click the three dots icon (More actions) in the top-right corner of the builder.
  4. Click Update thumbnail.
  5. In the Thumbnail dialog, check the current thumbnail. Then either click Recapture or upload an image of your own.
  6. Click Done.

Recapture regenerates the thumbnail from a fresh, live screenshot of your app. It can take a short while. The dialog shows the new image when it is ready.

To upload your own image, drop a file onto the box that reads "Drop an image here or click to browse", or click it to choose a file. The image must be a PNG, JPEG, or WebP file, up to 5 MB, and at least 640 by 400 pixels. An image you upload replaces the generated thumbnail until you upload another or recapture.

For a widget, Recapture needs a record to show real data. Pick a record in the Preview as control in the builder first. You can upload an image without picking a record.

You can also open the thumbnail step from the " is live" screen after you publish, under Choose a thumbnail.

Change the description

  1. Open your app in the builder.
  2. Click the three dots icon (More actions) in the top-right corner.
  3. Click Edit description.
  4. Type the new description, or click Generate description to have GTM One write one from your build chat. If a description is already there, the button reads Regenerate description and replaces the text.
  5. Review and edit the text, then click Save.

The description appears on the app's card and in the email sent when the app is shared. Generate description appears only for apps that were built through the builder chat.

If you see an error

  • "Automatic capture failed. You can try again, or upload your own image below." The screenshot could not be taken. Click Recapture again, or upload an image.
  • "Select a preview entity on the app to recapture with real data — or upload an image instead." This widget has no record selected. Choose one with Preview as, or upload an image.
  • "Use a PNG, JPEG, or WebP image." The file type is not supported. Convert the image and upload it again.
  • "Image must be 5 MB or smaller." Shrink the image and upload it again.
  • "Image must be at least 640×400 pixels." Choose a larger image.
  • "Failed to update description. Please try again." The description did not save. Click Save again.
  • "Could not generate a description." GTM One could not write one. Click Generate description again, or type the description yourself.
