How to request access to an app in GTM One
Learn how to ask an app's owner for access when a link does not open.
Learn how to ask an app's owner for access when a link does not open.
Overview
When you open an app that its owner has not shared with you, GTM One does not show the app. It shows who owns it and, when your organization has app access requests turned on, a way to ask for access. This is available when your organization has it turned on. If you do not see a Request Access button, ask the app's owner to share the app with you directly.
A request goes to the owner. The owner decides whether to approve it and which access to give.
Request access to an app
- Open the link to the app, or open the app from the Apps page. The page reads "This App hasn't been shared with you" and names the owner.
- In the Add a note (optional) box, type a short message to the owner. The box starts with the prompt "Tell" followed by the owner's first name and "why you need access". A note can be up to 2,000 characters.
- Click Request Access.
- Wait for the owner to decide. The page then reads "Your request is waiting for the owner to decide."
Right after you send the request, the page says "The owner will get your request. We'll let you know the moment they approve it." When the owner approves it, the app opens for you from its link or from the Shared with me section of the Apps page. See How to Review Access Requests for Your Apps in GTM One for the owner's side.
To leave, click Go to Apps.
When the app's audience is the problem
Sometimes you can open the app but not the audience it runs on. A dialog explains which case applies:
- "You don't have access to this app's Audience". The app is built on an Audience that has not been shared with you. Click Request Access to ask that Audience's owner. After you send it, the dialog reads "Request sent. We'll let you know as soon as the Audience's owner approves it." The app loads once they approve. While you wait, the dialog reads "Your request is waiting for the Audience's owner to decide."
- "We can't find this app's audience". The audience could not be loaded. It may have been deleted, renamed, or moved, or your access may have changed. Click Back to apps to leave, or Close to dismiss the dialog. If you own the app, click Edit app to open it in the builder.
If you see an error
- "This App can't be found". The link may be incorrect or out of date. Double-check the link, or ask whoever shared it to share it again.
- "Couldn't send your request. Please try again." The request did not go through. Click Request Access again.
- "Couldn't load this app". Something went wrong loading the app ("Something went wrong loading this app. Please try again."). Try again, and click Go to Apps if it keeps happening.
