Overview
An app starts as a draft that only you can open in the builder. Publishing makes it live, so you can share it, pin it to your navigation, and open it from the Apps page like any other app. A newly published app is private to you until you share it.
You can publish an app you own. For how to start an app, see How to Create and Manage an App (MicroApp) in GTM One.
Publish an app
- In the left navigation panel, click Apps.
- Click the app's card to open it in the builder.
- Click Publish in the top-right corner of the builder.
- Click Yes, Publish to confirm.
- Wait while GTM One publishes the app. The screen reads "Publishing" with the app name, and publishing usually takes under a minute.
When publishing finishes, the screen changes to " is live" with the message "It's published and ready. Here's what you can do next."
Finish setting up the app
The steps on the live screen are optional. The screen says "These steps are optional. Do them now or later." You can come back to them from the app.
- Name & describe: Give the app a clear name and description for the gallery. The name is required. The description appears on the app's card. Click Generate description to have GTM One write one from your build chat, then review and edit it. If you leave without saving, GTM One asks "Discard your changes?" Click Keep editing to stay or Discard to leave.
- Share with your team: Add people or open the app to your organization. See How to Share an App or Widget in GTM One.
- Add to sidebar: Pin the app to your navigation for one-click access, and choose an icon. Organizations that use Workspaces see Add to Workspace instead.
- Choose a thumbnail: Pick how the app looks on its gallery card. See How to Change an App's Thumbnail and Description in GTM One.
If you have not shared the app yet, the live screen reminds you that only shared people can open it and offers a Share first link.
Publish later changes
After you edit a published app, the builder shows Publish changes in place of Publish.
- On the app's card, open the menu and click Edit (clicking a published app's card opens the app itself), then make your changes in the chat.
- Click Publish changes in the top-right corner.
- Confirm when asked.
Every change you publish updates the live app for everyone who can open it. The app's card shows the status "Unpublished changes" until you do.
If you see an error
- "Publishing didn’t finish". Your preview is live, but publishing did not complete. Click Retry publish on the app to try again.
- "Publishing is taking longer than expected — your preview is live. You can retry publishing." Publishing is slow. Wait a moment, then click Retry publish if the app does not go live.
- "Couldn’t apply your last change". The builder could not apply your most recent request, but the app still has a usable preview. Send the request again with an updated description.
- "Failed to save changes. Please try again." The name or description did not save. Click save again, and check that the name is not empty ("Name is required").
