Overview
Advanced Search helps you find the companies and contacts you want to work with. When you find a useful set of results, you can move it into an audience, where you can enrich the records, share them, and activate them.
There are two ways to do this:
- All results. Turn the whole result set into a new audience. GTM One builds the audience from your search filters.
- Selected records. Select specific rows, and then add them to a new audience or to one or more existing audiences.
Add to Audience takes effect right away. The records go into the audience as soon as the request finishes.
Before You Start
- Run your search on the Contacts or Companies tab. Audiences can't be created from the Scoops tab, so the Create Audience button doesn't appear there.
- To turn all results into an audience, your search needs at least one result and no more than 200,000 results. If there are more, the button is unavailable and its tooltip asks you to refine your search, because audiences are capped at 200,000 records.
- The Add to Audience button in the bar above the results adds up to 500 records at a time.
Create an Audience from All Search Results
- In Advanced Search, run a search on the Contacts or Companies tab (see How to Run an Advanced Search in GTM One).
- Make sure no rows in the results are selected.
- Click Create Audience in the top-right corner of the page.
The new audience opens in a new browser tab.
The Create Audience button in the top-right corner of the Advanced Search page.
Add Selected Records to a New Audience
- In Advanced Search, run a search on the Contacts or Companies tab.
- Select the checkbox next to each record you want to add.
- Click Create Audience in the top-right corner of the page, or click Add to Audience in the bar above the results.
- In the Add to Audience dialog, click Create New Audience.
A message shows that the audience is processing. When it's ready, a confirmation appears with a View Audience link that opens the new audience.
Add Selected Records to an Existing Audience
- In Advanced Search, run a search on the Contacts or Companies tab.
- Select the checkbox next to each record you want to add.
- Click Create Audience in the top-right corner of the page, or click Add to Audience in the bar above the results.
- In the Add to Audience dialog, type part of the audience name in the Search or create audience... box.
- Click each audience you want to add the records to.
- Click the add button, which shows how many audiences you selected (e.g., Add to 1 audience).
A confirmation shows how many records were added. If you added them to a single audience, click View Audience in the confirmation to open it.
The list shows only audiences you can edit. If an audience that was shared with you doesn't appear, you may have view-only access. Ask the owner for edit access.
How Add to Audience Differs from Follow
On the Companies tab, the bar above the results also has a Follow button. Follow and Add to Audience do different things:
- Add to Audience adds the records to a list right away.
- Follow adds companies to your target accounts. Target accounts are processed nightly, when each account is scored and its signals are evaluated, so a followed company doesn't show its full results until after that nightly run.
For more about following companies, see How to Follow a Company in GTM One.
Add AI Columns in the Audience
You can't add AI columns in Advanced Search. To add AI research or other enrichment to your search results, move them into an audience first, and then enrich the audience. See How to add columns to an audience and run enrichment in GTM One.
If you see an error
- "Unable to create audience. Please try again." The audience was not created from your search results. Click Create Audience again.
- "Couldn't create audience. Please try again." The audience was not created from your selected records. Try the action again.
- "Couldn't add records to any audience. Try again." None of the audiences you picked received the records. Click the add button again.
- "Audience limit reached". Your organization has as many audiences as it can have, so a new one cannot be created. The dialog names the maximum. Delete audiences you no longer need, or contact ZoomInfo support to ask for more. See Troubleshooting Audiences in GTM One.
- A message from ZoomInfo Search about your sign-in or access. If Advanced Search refuses to create the audience for your account, the message under the button gives the reason. Follow it, and contact your ZoomInfo admin if you need access.
