Learn how to match your company or contact lists to ZoomInfo with ListMatch.
Overview
ListMatch compares a list of your own companies or contacts against ZoomInfo data. After the list is matched, you can open the matched records in Advanced Search, use the list as a search filter, and export the records with updated data.
In GTM One, you use ListMatch by uploading a list in Advanced Search and choosing the ListMatch option in the Upload Lists dialog. Finished lists appear on the Exports & Uploads tab of My Lists & Searches.
You can provide your list in three ways:
- Upload CSV: Add a .csv file. The upload area accepts .csv files up to 50MB.
- Text Input: Paste one record per line.
- My Lists: Reuse a list you have already uploaded.
Upload a List with ListMatch
- In Advanced Search, click Upload lists in the top-right corner of the page (it appears while no filter is applied), or click the Upload lists link under the Company Lists or Contact Lists filter.
- On the List Type step, select Companies or Contacts.
- Select ListMatch.
- Click Next.
- On the Input List step, select Upload CSV, Text Input, or My Lists.
- Add your records by dropping or browsing for a .csv file, pasting one record per line and then clicking outside the text box, or selecting a list from the Choose an existing list dropdown.
- Click Next.
- On the List name and actions step, keep the suggested List Name or type a new one.
- Optionally, enter a Description.
- Optionally, under Post import actions, click the action you want to apply to the matched records (see Post-Import Actions below).
- Click Next.
- On the Mapping step, for each ZoomInfo field in the Fields column, select the matching column from your file in the My File Fields dropdown.
- Click Submit.
The dialog closes and a progress bar shows "Processing your list…" while ZoomInfo matches your records. When matching finishes, a "List uploaded" message appears and the list is added to the Exports & Uploads tab.
Keep the following in mind:
- The list name must be at least three characters and can contain only letters, numbers, spaces, and the special characters _ - # and commas.
- If the list name can't be used, a message appears when you click Next. Change the name and click Next again.
- Some fields on the Mapping step may already be mapped for you. A field shows Mapped in the Map Status column once a file column is selected, and the count above the table shows how many fields are mapped.
- If processing fails, the message "Something went wrong processing your list. Please try again." appears. Upload the list again.
Post-Import Actions
The List name and actions step can offer these actions for ListMatch uploads:
- Follow these companies: Available for company lists. Adds the matched companies to your Followed Companies list. After you click it, the action reads "Will be followed." Lists over 2,500 records can't be followed, so the action is unavailable for larger lists.
- Tag Companies or Tag Contacts: Available when you have access to tags. Select a tag, and every matched record is tagged with it. The action then reads "Will be tagged as" followed by the tag name. Click it again to clear the tag.
Upload a File to Process Later
The Preview File option uploads your file without matching or mapping it right away. My Lists is not available as a source for this option.
- Click Upload lists in the top-right corner of Advanced Search.
- On the List Type step, select Companies or Contacts.
- Select Preview File.
- Click Next.
- On the Input List step, select Upload CSV or Text Input.
- Drop or browse for your .csv file, or paste one record per line.
- Click Next.
- On the Name List step, keep the suggested List Name or type a new one.
- Click Submit.
- Click Finish to close the dialog, or click Upload Another List to start a new upload.
A confirmation shows that your list is processing, and ZoomInfo emails you when it is ready.
Review Your Uploaded Lists
- In Advanced Search, click My Lists & Searches in the top-right corner of the page.
- Click Open lists.
- To find a specific list, type its name in the Search exports & uploads box and press Enter.
The Exports & Uploads tab shows the Date, List name, Description, Records, List type, and Status of each list, plus an actions menu. Click the Date column header to change the sort order. A list shows the Processing status while it is being matched. During that time, its actions menu offers only Rename List.
When a list is ready, its actions menu can include options such as Rename List, Open in Company Search, Open in Contact Search, Export Match Preview, Export List, and Delete List, depending on the type of list.
The Advanced Search landing page also shows your most recent uploads in its Exports & Uploads section.
Apply a List as a Filter in Advanced Search
From the Exports & Uploads Tab
- On the Exports & Uploads tab, click the actions menu in the Actions column of the list's row.
- Click Open in Company Search or Open in Contact Search.
Advanced Search opens with the list applied as a filter. Company lists matched with ListMatch offer both options. Contact lists offer Open in Contact Search. You can also click a list's row to open it in search when that option is available for the list.
From the Filter Panel
- In the Advanced Search filter panel, open the Company Lists filter under Companies or the Contact Lists filter under Contacts.
- Click the Saved Lists dropdown.
- Select your list.
The search results update to show only records from that list. Only one company list or contact list can be active at a time, so selecting a list in one filter clears the list in the other. The Company Lists filter also includes a My Followed Companies checkbox that limits results to the companies you follow.
If you see an error
- "Something went wrong processing your list. Please try again." ZoomInfo could not finish matching the list. Upload the list again, and see Troubleshooting ListMatch in GTM One if it fails again.
- "You currently do not have enough credits." Redeeming the list needs more credits than your account has. Check your remaining credits, shorten the list, or ask your admin to add or distribute credits.
- "This list requires more credits than you have available at this time. Please shorten your list, or contact your administrator to replenish your Bulk Export package." The list is larger than your Bulk Export package has left. Shorten the list, or ask your admin to replenish the package.
- "Your current monthly credit balance is zero and will be replenished next month." Your monthly credits are used up. Wait for the monthly reset, use Bulk Export credits if your account has them, or ask your admin for more credits.
