How to Follow a Company in GTM One

Learn how to follow companies so their signals appear in your Activity Feed.

Overview

When you follow a company, it is added to your followed companies. The Following tab of the Activity Feed is built from these companies and shows their signals and activity, grouped by company or by signal. You can follow only companies, not contacts.

You can follow a company from its profile, from Advanced Search results, or from the Activity Feed. You can also review and unfollow the companies you follow from the Activity Feed.

Follow vs. Add to Audience

Follow and Add to Audience are two different actions:

  • Follow adds the company to your target accounts. The target accounts pipeline scores the company, calculates its Account Fit Score, and evaluates which signals are relevant. This process runs nightly, so a newly followed company may not appear in your feed right away.
  • Add to Audience takes effect immediately. It adds the company to an audience (a list) without changing what you follow.

If you need a company in a list right away, use Add to Audience. If you want to track a company's signals in your feed over time, follow it.

Follow a Company from Its Profile

  1. Open the company's profile.
  2. In the profile header, click Follow.

The button changes to Following with a check mark, and a "Company successfully followed" message confirms the change.

Follow Companies from Advanced Search

  1. In the left navigation panel, click Advanced Search.
  2. Click the Companies tab.
  3. Run your search.
  4. Select the checkbox beside each company you want to follow.
  5. In the toolbar above the results, click Follow.

You can follow up to 500 companies at a time from Advanced Search. When every selected company is already followed, the button reads Following.

Follow a Company from the Activity Feed

  1. In the left navigation panel, click Feed.
  2. In the tabs at the top of the left rail, click Following.
  3. In the left rail, click Manage followed companies to open the Customize your feed dialog. If you do not follow any companies yet, click Search for companies in the middle of the page instead.
  4. Type at least two letters of the company name into the Find a company to follow search box.
  5. Click Follow beside the matching company.
  6. Click Close at the bottom of the dialog.

Follow Companies in Bulk from the Activity Feed

The dialog also offers bulk options at the top. Depending on your account, it is titled "Follow companies to generate new signals in your feed every day" and offers Add from Audience (follow a saved company audience) and Upload a CSV, or it is titled "Customize your feed" and offers:

  • Upload a CSV imports a CSV file of accounts.
  • Configure your territory follows companies that match criteria such as industry, size, and geography.
  • Connect your CRM syncs accounts from your CRM. This option appears only when your organization has a connected CRM.

When you do not follow any companies yet, the feed shows similar options in the middle of the page: Search for companies, Upload a list, and Define a territory.

Manage and Unfollow Companies

The Customize your feed dialog lists every company you follow, with a count of followed companies above the list.

To unfollow companies from the Activity Feed:

  1. In the left navigation panel, click Feed.
  2. In the left rail of the Following tab, click Manage followed companies.
  3. Point to a company in the list, then click Unfollow beside it.
  4. Click Close at the bottom of the dialog to save your changes.

If you change your mind before you close the dialog, click Follow beside the company to keep following it.

To unfollow a company from its profile:

  1. Open the company's profile.
  2. In the profile header, click Following.

To unfollow companies from Advanced Search:

  1. On the Companies tab of Advanced Search, select the checkbox beside each company you want to unfollow.
  2. In the toolbar above the results, click Following.

View Updates for the Companies You Follow

  1. In the left navigation panel, click Feed.
  2. In the tabs at the top of the left rail, click Following.
  3. Next to Group by, click Company to see updates by account, or click Signal to see updates by signal type.

If you see an error

  • "Failed to follow company": the company could not be followed from its profile. Wait a moment and click Follow again.
  • "Failed to follow companies": the companies you selected in Advanced Search could not be followed. Try again in a moment. If you selected many companies, try a smaller selection.
  • "Failed to unfollow companies": the companies you selected in Advanced Search could not be unfollowed. Select them and click Following again.
