How to Manage Data Sharing Settings as an Admin
Learn how admins choose which integrations share data to improve ZoomInfo products.
Learn how admins choose which integrations share data to improve ZoomInfo products.
Overview
Data sharing lets an organization choose which of its connected integrations contribute data that ZoomInfo uses to improve its products. Admins manage these choices on the Data Sharing page in the Admin Portal. Each choice is a use case, and each use case lists the integrations that can contribute to it.
There are four use cases, listed in this order:
- Enhanced contact matching and enrichment: keeps contact information up to date and finds new contact details. This is the only use case with region exclusions for EU, Canada and California contacts.
- Company identity resolution for web traffic: connects anonymous website visits, ad interactions and content engagement to companies. It supports WebSights accuracy, intent signals and ad attribution.
- Assess email deliverability: removes bounced emails and looks for updated ones, which reduces bounce rates.
- Benchmark insights and recommendations: combines your business data with aggregated patterns from the wider business community to provide deal benchmarks.
Each card explains what happens when the use case is on and when it is off. When it is off, you keep the other intelligence and recommendations included in your ZoomInfo package.
Sharing levels
The sharing level for your organization decides which changes an admin can make. A card that is locked by the level shows as off.
- No sharing: all use cases are off and none can be changed.
- Partial sharing: Benchmark insights and recommendations is off and cannot be turned on, although it can be turned off. Enhanced contact matching and enrichment can be turned on only for CRM and sales engagement integrations (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot, Dynamics, Outreach, Salesloft). The other use cases follow your settings.
- Full sharing: every change is allowed.
Your organization's data sharing eligibility sets the level when your organization has that check turned on. When it is not turned on, an organization that has switched off all sharing in its Privacy Center is treated as No sharing, and every other organization is treated as Full sharing. The level is checked again on every change you save, whichever way the page shows it.
Change a data sharing use case
- Sign in to the Admin Portal and open the Data Sharing page.
- Find the use case you want to change.
- Click View on the use case's card. On the page that opens, click Manage Settings and turn the use case on or off for each integration listed under Integration source.
- For Enhanced contact matching and enrichment, choose the regions (EU, Canada or California) whose contacts you want to exclude for each integration.
- Check that the card shows the new state.
If a change is refused, the sharing level does not allow it. For example, Partial sharing does not allow turning on Benchmark insights and recommendations, and No sharing does not allow any change. If the page cannot load or save, the Privacy Center could not be reached, so try again in a few minutes.
Respond to the Data Sharing Validation window when you first sign in to the Admin Portal
The first time an admin signs in to the Admin Portal, a Data Sharing Validation window can open over the page. It says ZoomInfo is expanding the types of data transmitted through its products, subject to the ZoomInfo Privacy Policy, and lists the additional types of data that may now be collected:
- Device and browser information, such as Mobile Ad ID, device and browser ID, and device and browser details.
- Identifiers such as first- and third-party cookies and IP addresses.
- Hashed and unhashed email addresses.
It explains that this information is used to improve visitor and company identification across ZoomInfo's products, and links to Data Sharing Preferences.
- Read the window.
- Click Acknowledge to accept, or click Cancel to decline.
Clicking Acknowledge turns the organization's web visitor IP and domain analysis preference on in the Privacy Center. Clicking Cancel turns it off. Either way the window closes and does not open again in that browser, unless the browser's saved choice is cleared. Only admins see the window. The window directs you to manage your organization's Data Sharing Preferences through the Admin Portal.
What users see when they connect an integration
When a user connects an integration from the activity feed and the admin has not approved that integration, a Data Sharing Validation window opens first. It explains that data sent through the application is collected to improve ZoomInfo's products and is subject to the ZoomInfo Privacy Policy. It also says the integration is set up with defaults, and that an admin can view and manage the organization's preferences on the Data Sharing page in the Admin Portal. Clicking Confirm or Cancel closes the window and opens the connection window for the integration.
