Overview

The Voicemail card on the Dialer Settings page is optional and has two parts:

  • Voicemail Greeting: The message people hear when you miss their call.
  • Voicemail Drop: Pre-recorded messages you can leave in a person's voicemail during a call. You can keep up to 20. A counter next to the heading shows how many you have, for example 3/20.

You need a dialer phone number first. See How to choose your dialer phone number. The first time you record, your browser may ask for microphone access. Allow it.

Record a voicemail greeting

  1. Click Settings in the profile menu at the bottom of the sidebar, then click Dialer.
  2. In the Voicemail card, click Record Voicemail Greeting.
  3. Wait for the message "Start recording your voicemail greeting after the beep. Press finish to end the recording."
  4. Speak after the beep.
  5. Click the stop button on the recording bar when you are done.

The greeting then appears with a player. Click the player to listen to it. To cancel instead of saving, use the cancel button on the recording bar.

Record a voicemail drop

  1. In the Voicemail card, click Record Voicemail Drop.
  2. Type a name in the Add record name field. A name can be up to 50 characters.
  3. Click Record.
  4. Wait for the message "Start recording your voicemail drop after the beep. Press finish to end the recording."
  5. Speak after the beep.
  6. Click the stop button on the recording bar when you are done.

The drop appears in the list. Use it during a call as described in How to drop a voicemail during a call. Click the x next to the name field to cancel before recording.

Rename or delete a recording

  1. In the Voicemail card, find the recording in the list.
  2. To rename a drop, click the pencil button (Edit), change the name, and click Save. Click Cancel to keep the old name.
  3. To delete a greeting or a drop, click the trash button (Delete).
  4. In the Delete Voicemail Recording window, confirm that you want to delete the recording.

If you see an error

  • "Record name cannot be blank" Type a name for the drop before you click Record.
  • "This name already exists, please choose another name" You already have a drop with that name. Choose a different one.
  • "You have reached the maximum limit for voicemail drops" You have 20 drops (the button also reads "Limit of 20 Voicemail Drops"). Delete one you no longer need, then record the new one.
  • "A voicemail drop cannot be recorded when a voicemail greeting is in progress" and "A voicemail greeting cannot be recorded when a voicemail drop is in progress" Finish or cancel the recording in progress first. Only one recording can be made at a time.
  • "Error recording voicemail" or "Error recording greeting" The recording could not start. Check that your browser can use your microphone, then try again.
  • "Error editing voicemail title", "Error deleting greeting" or "Error deleting voicemail" The change was not saved. Try again.
  • "Error getting user voicemail" Your recordings could not be loaded. Reload the page.
  • "Phone Device UUID not found and there will be an error recording voicemails. Please reload and try again." Reload the page, then record again.
