How to log a call in the AI Dialer
Learn how to save the outcome and notes of a call after it ends.
Learn how to save the outcome and notes of a call after it ends.
Overview
When a call ends, the dialer panel stays open on the "Post-call brief" so you can log the call. Logging saves the outcome you choose and your notes with the call. Close the panel without logging and you cannot get back to the recording or notes.
When your organization has live transcription turned on, the panel also shows a Smart Summary while it is being written ("Generating call summary..."). It covers the sentiment of the call, the talk ratio, whether an objection was raised or a competitor was mentioned, key topics and next steps. The summary fills in the outcome and notes for you when you have not chosen them yet, and notes it wrote carry an "AI-drafted" badge. Check them before you log, because you can change both.
Log a call
- When the call ends, read the Smart Summary if it appears.
- Under Outcome, click the result that best describes the call. The selected result is highlighted.
- Under Notes, type or edit your notes. The field reads "Quick context for next time…" when it is empty.
- Click Log call. The button stays unavailable until you choose an outcome.
- Wait for "Logging call…" to finish. A message confirms "Call logged successfully" and the panel clears.
Close the panel before logging
Click the close button in the panel header.
- If you chose an outcome or typed notes, the "Unsaved Call Log?" window says "We noticed you have unsaved call log. Save before you go." Click Save to log the call and close, or Don't save to discard it.
- If you have not entered anything, the "Close without Logging Call" window says "You will not be able to access recordings or notes." Click Close to close the panel, or Keep editing to go back and log the call.
If you see an error
- "Failed to log call. Please try again." The call could not be saved. Click Log call again. Your outcome and notes stay in the panel.
