Learn how to leave one of your pre-recorded messages when a call reaches voicemail.
Overview
A voicemail drop plays a message you recorded in advance, so you do not have to leave it live. Dropping a voicemail ends the call. You record and name your drops in Settings. See How to record a voicemail greeting and voicemail drops.
Drop a voicemail
- Start a call and wait for it to connect.
- Listen for the voicemail beep.
- Click the voicemail button at the bottom of the dialer panel. A Drop Voicemail menu opens with the names of your recordings.
- Click the recording you want to play.
The menu reminds you to wait until you hear the beep, and that a voicemail drop ends the call. Your list of recordings is refreshed at the start of each call, so a recording you just added or deleted in Settings is reflected.
The voicemail button is unavailable in these cases:
- The call has not connected yet. The tooltip reads "Cannot use voicemail drop until call is connected".
- Your recordings are still loading. The tooltip reads "Loading voicemail...".
- You have no recordings. The tooltip reads "No voicemails". Record one in Settings first.
If you see an error
- "Failed to drop voicemail. Please try again." The message could not be played to the caller. Click the voicemail button and choose the recording again. If the recording was deleted in Settings, choose a different one.
