Create a buying group, and find where buying groups appear in GTM One.

Overview

A buying group is the set of people involved in a purchase decision at an account, described as personas (e.g., the economic buyer or a technical evaluator) with the job titles that fill them. In GTM One you use a buying group to narrow contacts in Advanced Search, in audiences and on profiles, and you can see buying group information for a deal on the opportunity profile, in the Buying Group tab.

Anyone can create a private buying group for their own use. Only an admin can save a buying group as public, so it is available to everyone in the organization, or make one the organization's default.

Before you start

  • A buying group can hold up to eight personas and up to 500 job titles.
  • You can keep up to 50 buying groups.
  • To save a group as public or as the organization's default, you need to be an admin. Everyone else sees only Save as Private.

Create a buying group

  1. Open Advanced Search, and in the filters, open the Buying Committees filter.
  2. Click Manage to open Manage Buying Group.
  3. Add the personas for the group and the job titles for each.
  4. Click Save as Private to keep the group for yourself.
  5. If you are an admin, click Save as Public instead to make the group available to everyone, and select Make org default to set it as the default buying group for your organization.

You can also open the same window from the buying group filter in an audience, or from the contacts filter on a company profile.

If you are not an admin and the group should be available to your whole team, the window shows "Make this Buying Group available to all team members if needed" with a link to make it public in the Admin Portal. Ask your ZoomInfo admin to do this for you.

View the Buying Group on an Opportunity

  1. Open the opportunity profile for the deal you want to review (e.g., from a link to the opportunity on a company profile or in search results).
  2. Click the Buying Group tab in the tab bar under the profile header.
  3. Review the Engaged contacts section, which lists each engaged contact with their meetings, emails, and last engagement.
  4. Select a time range from the Engaged in dropdown in the top-right corner of the section (e.g., Past month).
  5. Select a buying group from the Show dropdown to narrow the list to that group, or select All engaged contacts to see everyone.
  6. Click See the entire buying group at the bottom of the section to open Advanced Search with the company and buying group already applied.

If the section shows that no buying group is defined for the account, the Show dropdown is unavailable. The rest of the engaged contacts list still works as usual.

If you do not see a Buying Group tab, the profile layout you are using may not include it. Contact your ZoomInfo admin for help with profile layouts.
