Learn what a note error in GTM One means and how to get the note working again.

Overview

GTM One shows a short message at the corner of the screen when a note action does not complete. The message names the action but not the reason, so this article lists each message with its usual causes. Your note text is kept in the editor while you fix the problem, but copy anything important before you reload the page.

  1. Look at the save status in the note header. "Unsaved changes" means the latest edit has not been stored yet.
  2. Check that you are signed in and online. If your session ended, sign in again and reopen the note from Documents.
  3. Check that you can edit the note. A note in the trash, or one shared with you without edit access, opens read only. Restore the note, or ask its owner to share it with edit access.
  4. Wait a minute and repeat the action once. GTM One limits how quickly requests can be made, and a burst of saves, new notes or new pages can be refused for a short time.
  5. If the message repeats, reload the page, open the note again and repeat the action.
  6. If it still fails, contact Support with the message, the note title, what you were doing and the time.

If you see an error

  • "Error saving note". The latest change could not be stored. Copy your text, check your connection and that you can edit the note, then edit again to retry the save.
  • "Error fetching note content". The text of the note could not be loaded. Reload the page. If the note was deleted, or was shared with you and the share was removed, it is no longer available to you.
  • "Error creating note". A new note or page could not be created. Wait a minute and try again. A note can only be nested three levels deep, so a page at the deepest level cannot take another page.
  • "Error updating note". The title or another property of the note could not be changed. Try again, and check that you can edit the note.
  • "Error linking CRM object to note". The record could not be linked. The record may already be linked to this note, may not exist any more, or your CRM connection may need attention. Open LINKED RECORDS to see what is already linked, then search for the record again. If your CRM connection has expired, ask your admin to reconnect it.
  • "Error unlinking CRM object". The record could not be removed from the note. Reload the note and try again.
  • "Failed to reorder note". The note stayed where it was in the sidebar. Drag it again after the sidebar has finished loading.
  • "Editing paused". GTM One could not confirm the note's status, so it opened the note read only. Click Try again.
  • "This note is read-only". The note is in the trash or was shared with you without edit access. Restore it, or ask its owner for edit access.
  • "Error uploading file:" followed by a reason. See Troubleshooting note file upload errors in GTM One.
