Overview
A saved WebSights search keeps a set of filters under a name you choose, so you can return to the same view of your website visitors without rebuilding it. You save a search from the WebSights page, and every search you keep appears on the Saved searches tab of the My Searches page.
From the Saved searches tab, you can open a saved search, mark it as a favorite, or delete it.
Before you start, your account needs at least one verified WebSights domain. Until then, the Save Search button is unavailable, and pointing at it shows the message "Add and verify a domain before saving a WebSights search."
For an introduction to the WebSights page and its filters, see Overview of WebSights in GTM One.
Save a New WebSights Search
- In the left navigation panel, click WebSights.
- Set the domains, time range, and any other filters you want to keep.
- Click Save Search in the top-right corner of the page.
- In the Save WebSights Search dialog, confirm that Save as a New Search is selected.
- In the Search Name field, enter a name for the search.
- (Optional) In the Description field, enter a description of up to 2,000 characters.
- Click Save.
The search name is required. It can be up to 50 characters and can include letters, numbers, spaces, and the characters _ - ( ) [ ] #. If the name is missing or doesn't meet these rules, a message appears under the field after you click Save.
When the search is saved, the dialog closes and a message confirms that the search was saved successfully. If the save fails, the dialog closes with the message "Error saving WebSights search," and nothing is saved. Try saving the search again.
Replace an Existing Saved Search
Replacing a saved search swaps in your current filters. The saved search keeps its existing name and description.
- On the WebSights page, set the filters you want the saved search to use.
- Click Save Search in the top-right corner of the page.
- In the Save WebSights Search dialog, select Replace Existing Search.
- Click the Select a saved search dropdown and choose the search you want to replace.
- Click Save.
A banner in the dialog reminds you that the existing search will be updated with your current filters. When the update finishes, a message confirms that the search was updated successfully.
If you don't have any saved searches yet, Replace Existing Search is unavailable, and pointing at it shows "No saved searches available to replace."
Open Your Saved Searches
- On the WebSights page, click Open Search in the top-right corner of the page.
- Click View All Searches.
The My Searches page opens on the Saved searches tab. The line under the tabs shows how many saved searches you have. The table lists each search with these columns:
- Favorite: A star that shows whether the search is a favorite.
- Search Name: The name of the search.
- Description: The description, if one was added.
- Filters: A summary of the domains, date range, and other filters in the search.
- Creation Date: The date the search was saved.
- Actions: A menu of actions for the search.
The table shows 25 searches per page. Use the page controls below the table to see the rest.
If you haven't saved a search yet, the tab shows "No saved searches yet."
Find and Sort Saved Searches
- On the Saved searches tab, type in the Search saved searches box.
The list shows searches whose name or description matches what you typed. If nothing matches, the tab shows "No matching searches." Clear the box to see the full list again. The box also clears when you switch tabs.
To change the order of the list, click the Search Name or Creation Date column header. Click the same header again to reverse the order, and a third time to return to the default order. The default order puts your favorites first, then the newest searches.
Apply a Saved Search
- On the Saved searches tab, click the search name, its summary in the Filters column, or Open in the row's actions menu in the Actions column.
The WebSights page opens with the saved filters applied.
Favorite a Saved Search
Favorites appear at the top of the list in the default order.
- On the Saved searches tab, click the star in the Favorite column of the search, or open the row's actions menu in the Actions column and click Add to favorites.
To remove a search from your favorites, click the star again, or click Remove from favorites in the row's actions menu. A message confirms each change.
Delete a Saved Search
Deleting a saved search removes it permanently.
- On the Saved searches tab, open the actions menu in the Actions column of the search you want to remove.
- Click Delete.
- In the Delete saved search dialog, click Delete to confirm.
A message confirms that your search was deleted. To keep the search, click Cancel instead.
